This movie2k has a backdrop of Future America where people are living in massive apartments which are known as mega blocks.
The life is filled with frauds, gang wars, violence, poverty drugs and abuse. Law enforcement which is the only law governing body left has to eliminate all other tiers to gain back control.
Judge Dredd is sent to these massive blocks along with his partner Anderson to find out way and investigate. Later when they involve in those areas they find out that things are even more complicated than they seem to be. The leader of these massive blocks known as Ma-Ma is the drug supplier and distributor.
The drug called is SLO-MO which has the ability to slow down the time by 4% then normal in the mind of the person using it. Pete Travis is the director of the film and has used the camera in the best possible way to show the effects of slow motion processing of the brain under the influence of the drug.
The film also has action sequence shot in a way you would have never seen before.
Judge Dredd uses multiple weapons to compete his enemies. The unique techniques used to shot all the slow motion fights has made difference in the film and provided extra limelight to it. There is a lot of action along with bloodshed and hence the film is kept R rated. The plot is pretty much simple and hence it cannot be expected to have high Sci-Fi context. Yet simplicity has kept the movie 2k interesting.
